Just prior to the arrest of Jesus, He quoted this Old Testament verse (written hundreds of years before it happened) which specifically referred to Himself and His disciples.
"Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, and against the man, My Associate, Declares the LORD of hosts Strike the Shepherd that the sheep may be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones.”
When Jesus was arrested the disciples were scared and scattered. They lost hope and their faith in Jesus was shaken.
THE EYEWITNESS ACCOUNTS OF THE RESURRECTION
It is well documented throughout the bible that there were several people who witnessed the resurrection. These people saw Jesus after he was raised.
“And that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also."
1 Cor 15:4-8
THE DISCIPLES LIVES ARE TRANSFORMED
Just before the resurrection the disciples abandoned Jesus. They were scared and lost hope. This would all change though. After Jesus was raised from the dead they all lived very different lives. They were eyewitnesses of the resurrection. They would all become fervent believers of the faith and almost all of them died a martyr’s death for Jesus .The disciple’s lives were transformed.
