The psalms were written 1,000 + years before Christ. This passage of scripture from Psalm 22 predicts that the Messiah would die by crucifixion well before it actually happened.
Psalm 22:14, 16-17
“I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within me. For dogs have surrounded me; a band of evildoers has encompassed me; they pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me."
The fulfillment of this Psalm is found in the New Testament books of Matthew and Mark
“After they mocked Him, they took the scarlet robe off Him and put His garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.”
Mark 15:20; 25
“After they mocked Him, they took the purple robe off of Him and put His own garments on him. And they led Him away to crucify Him.”
“It was the third hour when they crucified Him.”
Many passages from the psalms predict in detail events from Christ’s life and death. The evidence is clear. God sent the Messiah, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross for our transgressions.
Isaiah 53:5 tells us:
“But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities, the chastening for our well being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.”
Oh by the way - Isaiah 53 was written 400 plus years before Christ. What are the chances? If you would like to learn more about having a relationship with Jesus Christ click here.
